AVESS Energy – Australia’s next energy storage solution – is delighted to strengthen its leadership team with the appointment of Michael van Uffelen as CFO and Company Secretary, and Patricia Cavalcanti as CCO.

The appointments signify a key milestone in the Company’s journey towards becoming a local downstream vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) solution for the energy, mining and utility sectors.

Mr van Uffelen is the Founding Director of Perth-based professional services company Black Tourmaline Consulting and serves as a Non-Executive Director at lithium brine development company, Anson Resources.

Mr van Uffelen has a proven record of driving financial governance and performance across the energy, mining and technology sectors in companies such as Dynasty Metals, Liquitab Systems, Marenica Energy, Sprintex, Nanoveu, Tian Poh Resources and Top Iron.

As CFO and Company Secretary, Mr van Uffelen will play a key role in guiding corporate governance, resource optimisation and financial sustainability.

Joining AVESS Energy from SENEC – a German energy solutions company – Ms Cavalcanti brings more than a decade of commercial management experience to the Company, including previous roles with Perth Energy and Wesfarmers Kleenheat Gas.

With Ms Cavalcanti’s deep understanding of the energy storage systems (ESS) market, she will drive efforts to grow the Company’s market presence, build strategic partnerships and capitalise on business development opportunities.

Ms Cavalcanti as CCO will spearhead commercial strategy and value creation opportunities for AVESS Energy.

Commenting on the strengthening of the executive team, AVESS Energy Managing Director Young Yu said:

“Michael’s and Patricia’s appointments highlight our commitment to strengthening our leadership team as we prepare for the deployment of our VRFB and seek to build out our manufacturing and production capabilities.

“The depth of Michael’s experience as a CFO and Company Secretary boosts our governance credentials.

“Patricia’s diverse commercial experiences at Perth Energy and Wesfarmers Kleenheat Gas, combined with her exposure to the renewable energy space at SENEC, offers a point of difference to AVESS Energy.”

“We are confident that the collective skills and expertise of our new CFO, CoSec and CCO will position the business to achieve our strategic goals and create long-term value for our shareholders,” said Mr Yu.

Commenting on his appointment as CFO and Company Secretary, Michael van Uffelen said:

“I am a big believer that electrification of everything is coming and that VRFBs have a big part to play. I am very pleased to join AVESS Energy on this journey,” said Mr van Uffelen.

Commenting on her appointment as CCO, Patricia Cavalcanti said:

“Out of all the alternatives to lithium batteries, VRFB storage is the most exciting and promising for non-mobile, large-scale applications.

“AVESS Energy is well placed to take the lead in this market, delivering real solutions to clients, either on or off-grid.

“I’m thrilled to join the team. There’s no better place to be at this point of the energy revolution,” said Ms Cavalcanti.
